Die Kumamoto-Domäne existierte von 1600 bis 1871 und kontrollierte ein Gebiet von ursprünglich 520.000 Koku. Sie wurde vom Kumamoto-Schloss in Kumamoto-Stadt aus verwaltet und war auch als Higohan bekannt. Der Hosokawa-Clan hatte den Status eines Daimyo, eines Feudalherrn, in der Region.
