Summary
About the place: Adamov is an industrial town in the Blansko District of the South Moravian Region, situated in the deep forested valley of the Svitava River at the edge of the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. With its very compact territorial area, it is among the smallest towns by area in the Czech Republic and is historically known for ironworking and mechanical engineering.
Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes: red, white, and red in a width ratio of 1 : 3 : 1. In the wider white central stripe is a black ashlar blast furnace with an open hearth emitting red flames. Above the furnace is a black wheel with an upper toothed half, and below the furnace lies a horizontal brown ragged staff (log with three lopped branches), the upper half of which extends into the open hearth and one branch points toward the hoist. The aspect ratio is 2 : 3.
Symbolism: The symbolism is derived from the municipal coat of arms: the blast furnace with flames represents the long-standing ironworking and metallurgy tradition dating back centuries, the gear wheel signifies modern industrial and mechanical engineering development in the 20th century, and the ragged staff (ostrev) represents the timber wealth of the surrounding dense forests of the Moravian Karst and Drahany Highlands. The red and white stripes reflect traditional regional and civic colors.
