Alsózsolca

About the place: Alsózsolca is a town in northeastern Hungary, located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County near Miskolc. It sits along the Hernád River and forms part of the Miskolc metropolitan area.

Flag Description: The flag consists of two horizontal bands, blue on top and white on the bottom. Centered on the flag is the complete city coat of arms with full heraldic elements: a blue shield depicting a silver plowshare and coulter, surmounted by a helmet with a crown, mantling (blue-gold and red-silver), and a crest depicting a stag pierced through the neck by an arrow with a double cross between its antlers. Below the crest, in the lower white band, the text 'ALSÓZSOLCA' is written in yellow-gold capital letters.

Symbolism: Blue and white represent the traditional municipal colors. The agricultural implements (plowshare and coulter) on the shield symbolize the town's historical rural character and farming traditions. The stag pierced by an arrow with a patriarchal cross between its antlers derives from traditional nobility and regional heraldry.
