Summary

About the place: Bagé is a Brazilian municipality located in the southern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, near the border with Uruguay. It is an important historical, agricultural, and livestock center of the Campanha region.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white rectangular field with the municipal coat of arms centered. The coat of arms features a divided shield: the upper field is white with a representation of the historical Santa Tecla fort in brown tones, and the lower field is blue featuring green hills at the base. The shield is surmounted by a golden mural crown and supported below by a red ribbon bearing the white inscription '1811 BAGÉ 1859'.

Symbolism: The white field of the flag symbolizes peace. The Santa Tecla fort in the upper part of the shield recalls the historical military origins and defensive role of the settlement. The green hills in the blue field represent the characteristic pampa landscape of the Campanha region. The red ribbon with dates commemorates the founding of the settlement (1811) and its elevation to city status (1859).
