About the place: Barra Mansa is a Brazilian municipality located in the southern part of the state of Rio de Janeiro within the Paraíba Valley. It forms an important industrial and transportation hub alongside neighboring Volta Redonda.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of white, light blue, and white. In the center of the flag is the municipal coat of arms. The shield is divided into four quarters. The first quarter is red with three crossed golden arrows. The second quarter is blue featuring a landscape with a river, green banks, and a glowing sun. The third quarter is divided into three horizontal bars (yellow, white, yellow) showing a fish at the top, a red bull in the middle, and a blue cogwheel at the bottom. The fourth quarter is dark blue with an inescutcheon bearing a red cross topped by a helmet. The shield is flanked by coffee and sugarcane branches tied at the bottom beneath a white scroll inscribed with the Latin motto 'PAX - IVS - LABOR', and topped by a golden mural crown.

Symbolism: The blue and white colors represent the traditional colors of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The heraldic elements within the coat of arms depict indigenous history (arrows), local geography with the Paraíba do Sul River, agriculture, cattle farming, industrial development (cogwheel), and historical heritage. The Latin motto 'PAX - IVS - LABOR' translates to 'Peace, Justice, Labor'.
