Belém

About the place: Belém is the capital and largest city of the state of Pará in northern Brazil, located near the mouth of the Amazon River at the Atlantic Ocean. It serves as a key port, economic, and cultural hub for the Amazon region.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a dark blue field centered with the municipal coat of arms. The shield is divided into four quarters. The first quarter (top-left from the viewer's perspective) depicts two arms holding baskets of fruit. The second quarter (top-right) features a radiant sun accompanied by a scroll with a Latin motto. The third quarter (bottom-left) shows a stone tower resting on a dark base. The fourth quarter (bottom-right) presents animals near a waterfront landscape under a scroll with an inscription.

Symbolism: The dark blue field represents the sky and the vast waters of the region. The centered coat of arms symbolizes agricultural abundance (baskets of fruit), enlightenment and a bright future (the sun), historical defense and fortitude (the stone tower), and pastoral life along the rivers of Pará.
