Summary
About the place: Benetice is a small rural municipality in the Třebíč District of the Vysočina Region, situated in the undulating landscape of the Křižanov Highlands north of the town of Třebíč.
Flag Description: The flag consists of five horizontal stripes of yellow, blue, yellow, black, and yellow, in a width ratio of 1:4:1:1:1. In the central broad blue stripe, a yellow winged Lion of Saint Mark with red armament (claws and tongue) walks toward the hoist, holding an open white book in its paws. The aspect ratio of the flag is 2:3.
Symbolism: The primary charge—the winged Lion of Saint Mark holding an open book of the Gospel—represents Saint Mark the Evangelist, the patron saint of the local parish church. The black stripe (derived from the Benedictine cowls in the municipal coat of arms) commemorates the historical lordship of the Benedictine abbey in Třebíč. The blue and yellow colors are taken from the heraldry of the Counts of Waldstein (later Waldstein-Wartenberg), the long-standing owners of the Třebíč domain.
