Symbolism: The charges and colours of the flag and coat of arms reflect the history, geography, and patron saints of the municipality: • The red stripe represents the flaying knife from the coat of arms, the traditional attribute of Saint Bartholomew, to whom the parish church in Bílence is dedicated. • The blue wavy stripe represents the abbacy crozier and water – the pastoral staff commemorates the Cistercian Abbey of Osek, which owned the village of Škrle for centuries, while the wavy shape symbolises the Chomutovka river flowing through the municipality. • The green counter-embattled stripe corresponds to the embattled base in the coat of arms, referencing historic local strongholds and the fertile agricultural land of the Most Basin. • The white (silver) stripes derive from the silver field of the arms and form a canting reference to the name of Bílence (from "bílý" – white).
