Summary
About the place: Břestek is a picturesque submontane and winemaking village in the Uherské Hradiště District of the Zlín Region, nestled at the foot of the Chřiby highlands near Buchlov Castle. The municipality is noted for its forested, undulating terrain featuring the protected sandstone crag Břestecká skála as well as its longstanding traditions of fruit and wine growing.
Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes of yellow, blue, and yellow in a width ratio of 1:4:1. In the wider central blue stripe is a heart vertically divided per pale into red and yellow, pierced fanwise by seven white swords with yellow hilts. The width-to-length ratio of the flag is 2:3.
Symbolism: The central emblem of a heart pierced by seven swords represents Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa) and her Seven Sorrows, referencing the village chapel and local spiritual tradition. The color palette of blue, yellow, and red derives from the municipal coat of arms, which also features a triple mount (representing the Chřiby hills) and a bunch of grapes denoting viticulture.
