Summary

About the place: Břežany is a scenic rural municipality in the Bohemian Forest foothills in Klatovy District, featuring a designated monument zone with traditional folk farmsteads. In the surrounding woodland lies the Baroque Chapel of Saint Anne from the 18th century.

Flag Description: Břežany is a municipality and village in Klatovy District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic, situated approximately 7 km west of Horažďovice. Known for its well-preserved traditional rural architecture, the village has been designated a village monument zone since 1995.

Symbolism: The colours white (silver), blue, green, and yellow (gold) along with the geometric layout directly derive from the municipal coat of arms granted in 2016. The green colour represents the agricultural countryside and surrounding forests of the Bohemian Forest foothills (symbolised by a linden leaf in the arms), blue and white evoke local waters and sacred heritage associated with the local St. Anne's Chapel (represented by a fleur-de-lis), and yellow corresponds to the golden eight-pointed star in the coat of arms.
