Summary

About the place: Brno-Kníničky is a municipal district on the northwestern outskirts of Brno, located on the shores of the Brno Reservoir. The modern settlement was built in the late 1930s as a replacement for the original historical village that was submerged by the construction of the reservoir.

Flag Description: The flag consists of two horizontal stripes, white and wavy blue. In the lower hoist corner is a coulter (ploughshare) with the blade pointing to the hoist and the point to the upper edge of the stripe, flanked by two bunches of grapes, each with two leaves, all white. The ratio of the width to the length of the sheet is 2:3.

Symbolism: The flag is derived from the historical coat of arms and seal of the original Old Kníničky. The ploughshare and two bunches of grapes represent the traditional agriculture and viticulture historically practiced in the Svratka River valley. The wavy blue stripe symbolizes the Svratka River and the Brno Reservoir, the construction of which fundamentally reshaped the history of the settlement.
