Summary

About the place: Brno-Tuřany is a municipal district situated in the southeastern part of Brno, Czechia, comprising the cadastral areas of Tuřany, Brněnské Ivanovice, Holásky, and Dvorska. It features a suburban and traditionally agricultural character and partially accommodates the Brno-Tuřany International Airport.

Flag Description: The flag of the Brno-Tuřany municipal district (granted in 2001) features a 2:3 aspect ratio and consists of three vertical stripes of white, blue, and white in a width ratio of 2:3:2. In the central blue stripe, there is a white circular disc edged in yellow, with a yellow crown resting on its bottom rim.

Symbolism: The symbolism derives from the historic Marian pilgrimage heritage of Tuřany (Diva Turzanensis). Blue and white (silver) are traditional Marian colors drawn from the historical coat of arms featuring the Madonna of Tuřany. The white disc evokes a halo, while the golden crown symbolizes the Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and directly references the crowned miraculous statue found in a thorn bush according to 11th-century legend.
