Summary

About the place: Brunehaut is a French-speaking municipality located in the Belgian province of Hainaut within the Walloon Region. It is situated near the French border close to Tournai along the river Scheldt.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a yellow field with a red bend diagonal stripe running from the upper hoist side to the lower fly side. On the red bend, three white Saint James scallops are placed perpendicular to the alignment of the stripe.

Symbolism: The flag directly derives from the coat of arms of the local noble family of Howardries, one of the historic villages forming the current merged municipality of Brunehaut. The red bend on a yellow field charged with three white scallops represents the traditional family heraldic bearings.
