Summary

About the place: Břvany is a municipality in Louny District within the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the gently undulating landscape southwest of the Central Bohemian Uplands. The village is known for its natural carbonated mineral springs and the late-Gothic parish Church of Saint Martin.

Flag Description: The flag consists of two horizontal stripes of blue and yellow with a width-to-length ratio of 2:3. Erupting outward from the center of the upper edge of the yellow stripe are six (3, 3) white mineral water jets. In the yellow stripe is a vertical blue sword pointing downward between two halves of an open red cloak with green cords at the top.

Symbolism: The symbolism reflects local history and nature. The six gushing water jets represent the well-known local mineral water springs (sour water). The sword dividing the red cloak is the iconographic attribute of Saint Martin of Tours, the patron saint of the local late-Gothic village church. Blue symbolizes water and the sky, while yellow (gold) represents the agricultural fertility of the surrounding landscape.
