Summary
About the place: Belváros-Lipótváros is the 5th district of Budapest, situated on the left bank of the Danube in Pest. It forms the historic, political, and financial heart of the Hungarian capital, housing landmarks such as the Hungarian Parliament Building.
Flag Description: The flag consists of a horizontal bicolor with a yellow top stripe and a blue bottom stripe. In the center sits the full coat of arms of the district: a blue shield depicting a golden castle with an open gate and a raised portcullis. Above the castle, to the viewer's left (heraldic dexter), is a radiant golden sun containing a crown, and to the viewer's right (heraldic sinister), a golden crescent moon. The shield is supported by two golden gryphons standing on either side.
Symbolism: The yellow and blue colors are derived from traditional Pest color schemes. The castle in the blue field symbolizes the fortified historical city and its gateway, guarded by the two golden gryphons. The crowned radiant sun and crescent moon reference historical heraldic motifs and local heritage.
