Summary
About the place: Buš is a municipality in the Central Bohemian Region (Prague-West District) of the Czech Republic, situated in the undulating Benešov Uplands approximately 29 km south of Prague, near the Slapy Reservoir on the Vltava River. It is a quiet rural village surrounded by forests and traditional recreational cottage settlements.
Flag Description: The flag consists of two vertical stripes of green and blue. Centered is a yellow polygonal chapel on a white plinth, featuring an arched doorway and a roof with a lantern, both black. In the upper portion, the chapel is flanked by two erect yellow leaves: a bendwise oak leaf in the green stripe and a bendwise sinister linden leaf in the blue stripe. The ratio of the flag's width to length is 2:3.
Symbolism: The polygonal chapel represents the local early 19th-century Baroque hexagonal chapel with a bell tower standing in the village. The golden oak leaf commemorates the protected heritage tree "Šebův dub" (an impressive solitary pedunculate oak near the village) and surrounding forests, while the linden leaf represents the Czech national tree. The green color symbolizes nature, fields, and woodlands, while blue denotes the nearby Vltava River and Slapy Reservoir. The symbols were designed by Arnošt Drozd and officially granted on October 9, 2007.
