Summary
About the place: Býchory is a village and municipality in the Kolín District of the Central Bohemian Region, situated in the flat landscape of the Elbe basin about 8 kilometers northeast of Kolín. It is a quiet rural community with origins dating back to the 14th century, best known for the Neo-Renaissance Horskýsfeld Chateau.
Flag Description: A blue sheet with a white fleur-de-lis in the center above a yellow violin placed bendwise with a black fingerboard, underlaid by a yellow bow bendwise sinister. In the upper hoist and upper fly corners, there is a yellow six-pointed star each. The ratio of width to length is 2:3.
Symbolism: The violin and bow commemorate the world-renowned violin virtuoso Jan Kubelík, who owned and lived in the local Neo-Renaissance chateau between 1904 and 1916 (his son, the acclaimed conductor Rafael Kubelík, was also born here). The white fleur-de-lis originates from the coat of arms of the Býchorský of Raškovice noble family, who held the village during the 15th and early 16th centuries, while the two yellow six-pointed stars serve as traditional heraldic accompanying charges.
