Summary

About the place: Flag with an aspect ratio of 2:3 divided into a hoist section and a fly section. The hoist section consists of an upper white square canton over a lower red square field, both having a width equal to half the length of the flag. In the white canton is a shortened red cross potent charged with a yellow Gothic inescutcheon bearing a black upright six-toothed rake. The fly section is composed of two horizontal stripes, red over white.

Flag Description: Bystřany is a municipality in the Teplice District of the Ústí nad Labem Region, Czech Republic, situated immediately southeast of the spa town of Teplice at the foothills of the České středohoří mountains. It has a predominantly suburban and residential character along the Bílina River.

Symbolism: The red cross potent on a silver (white) field represents the Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre, who held the village in the Middle Ages prior to the Hussite Wars. The yellow/gold inescutcheon with an upright black rake is the heraldic arms of the prominent noble house of Hrabišic (the lords of Rýzmburk), regional founders and benefactors. The red and white livery colors reflect the primary tinctures of the municipal coat of arms.
