Summary

Čáslav is a town in Kutná Hora District of the Central Bohemian Region, located 9 km southeast of Kutná Hora and 30 km southwest of Pardubice. Founded in the 9th century as a gord, it became a royal town under King Ottokar II around 1250 and hosted the Bohemian parliament in 1421. The town hosts the 21st Tactical Air Force Base of the Czech Air Force and retains historic sites such as the early Gothic Church of Saint Martin and the Renaissance Sázava Castle.
