Český Těšín is a town in Karviná District, Moravian‑Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, situated on the Olza River at the Polish border. First mentioned in 1155, it was originally a western suburb of the historic town of Cieszyn in the Duchy of Cieszyn, ruled by the Piast and later Habsburg dynasties. Its historic centre is protected as an urban monument zone.
