Summary

About the place: Choceň is a town in eastern Bohemia, located within the Ústí nad Orlicí District in the Pardubice Region, situated along the Tichá Orlice River. It is well known as a major railway junction and an industrial center with engineering and food manufacturing traditions.

Flag Description: A red field bearing Saint Wenceslas holding a shield in his dexter hand and a pennant in his sinister hand, flanked by two ascending angels in yellow robes. The ratio of width to length of the sheet is 2:3.

Symbolism: The flag is an armorial banner directly derived from the historical town coat of arms adopted around the turn of the 18th century during the Counter-Reformation. Saint Wenceslas, the principal patron saint of Bohemia and symbol of statehood, was chosen to emphasize Catholic renewal and loyalty. He appears in traditional iconography bearing a defensive shield and a lance pennant as a protector of the town and Christian faith, flanked by two soaring angels signifying divine grace and guardianship. The red field represents martyrdom and courage, while the yellow (gold) garments of the angels denote heavenly glory.
