Summary

About the place: Choltice is a market town in Pardubice District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic, situated about 15 kilometres southwest of Pardubice at the foot of the Iron Mountains. The town is primarily known for its late 17th-century Early Baroque chateau with the octagonal Chapel of Saint Romedius and an adjacent extensive landscape park and deer preserve.

Flag Description: A red field featuring a white millstone surmounted by crossed white miner's hammers on brown handles. The ratio of width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The flag is directly derived from the historical coat of arms of the market town (officially granted on 27 June 2001 by decision of the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic). The millstone and crossed miner's hammers commemorate the renowned historical quarrying of quartzite and sandstone on the Choltice estate (notably in the nearby Raškovice quarries), where high-grade millstones—reputed to be among the finest in the Kingdom of Bohemia—were extracted and crafted. Red and white (silver) represent the traditional heraldic tinctures of the town's arms.
