Summary

About the place: Chotěbuz is a border municipality in Karviná District within the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, situated in historical Cieszyn Silesia along the left bank of the Olza River just north of Český Těšín. The village is renowned for its prominent archaeological site and open-air museum preserving an ancient and early medieval Slavic hillfort at Chotěbuz-Podobora.

Flag Description: A green flag featuring a vertical serrated yellow stripe at the fly edge, with a width equal to one-sixth of the flag's length. In the green field are two crossed scythes interlaced with two upright crossed sickles, all white with yellow hafts. The aspect ratio of the flag is 2:3.

Symbolism: The green field and the agricultural tools (crossed scythes interlaced with upright sickles) represent the village's agricultural roots, rural heritage, and the historic labour of its inhabitants. The vertical serrated yellow stripe at the fly edge corresponds to the golden palisade found in the municipal coat of arms, symbolizing the timber ramparts and defenses of the prominent prehistoric and early Slavic hillfort Chotěbuz-Podobora (traditionally known as "Old Cieszyn"). White and yellow mirror the silver and gold heraldic tinctures.
