Summary

About the place: Chožov is a rural municipality in the Louny District of the Ústí nad Labem Region, situated at the southern foot of the Central Bohemian Uplands beneath the prominent Chožovská hora hill. The municipality consists of three settlements: Chožov, Mnichovský Týnec, and Třtěno.

Flag Description: A rectangular flag with a 2:3 aspect ratio, divided horizontally into a yellow stripe and a wavy green stripe with two peaks and one trough, in a width ratio of 1:3. The yellow stripe bears a princely hat (ducal cap), beneath which the green stripe features a white six-pointed star positioned above a yellow chalice.

Symbolism: The green field and wavy division line with two peaks symbolize the area's prominent natural landmark, Chožov Mountain (Chožovská hora). The princely hat recalls the village's first written mention in 1057 in a donation charter of Duke Spytihněv II, as well as Saint Wenceslaus, patron saint of the chapel in Mnichovský Týnec. The golden chalice represents the local congregation of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, and the white six-pointed star (Stella Maris) symbolizes the Virgin Mary, patron of the chapel in Třtěno. The symbols were designed by Jan Tejkal and granted in 2020.
