Summary

About the place: Chrast is a town in the Pardubice Region within the Chrudim District of the Czech Republic, situated in the undulating landscape near the Železné hory (Iron Mountains). The town is known for its Baroque episcopal chateau with an extensive park and its historic ties to the nearby former Benedictine monastery in Podlažice.

Flag Description: A white field bearing two black eagles with red armament (beaks and talons), each with one raised wing, turned towards each other with the upper part of their bodies. The ratio of width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The flag is derived from the town's historic coat of arms dating back to the 16th century. The pair of black eagles with red armament on a white field reflects early Bohemian dynastic heraldry (the Přemyslid / St. Wenceslas eagle) as well as the regional heraldic tradition of the Chrudim area, while their confronting posture serves as the unique identifier of Chrast.
