Summary
About the place: Chrást is a municipality in the Plzeň-City District within the Plzeň Region, located about 10 km northeast of Pilsen near the confluence of the Klabava and Berounka rivers. It serves as an important local railway and transport junction and a residential suburb in the Pilsen metropolitan area.
Flag Description: The flag consists of three horizontal stripes: blue, white, and embattled-indented red with ten teeth and nine equal indentations, in a width ratio of 1 : 2 : 1. In the central white stripe is an affronte crowned pot helmet in natural colors with black mantling, surmounted by spread black wings. The ratio of width to length is 2 : 3.
Symbolism: The upper blue stripe symbolizes the Berounka and Klabava rivers surrounding the municipal territory. The central crowned pot helmet with spread wings is derived from the crest and arms of the medieval noble house of Chrást (Petr Holý of Chrást). The lower red indented/crenellated stripe represents the former medieval fortress and, together with the golden crown, recalls the historic royal ownership and subsequent possession by the city of Plzeň.
