Summary

About the place: Dešná is a small municipality in the Zlín District of the Zlín Region, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Vizovice Highlands Natural Park near Slušovice. It is characterized by its tranquil rural atmosphere and surrounding forested slopes.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes of yellow, green, and white in a width ratio of 1:3:1. In the central green stripe is the upper half of a wild man of natural coloration with yellow hair, beard, and a drawn bow with arrow, conjoined with the lower half of a white horse with yellow hooves and tail. The flag width-to-length ratio is 2:3.

Symbolism: The central figure of a centaur depicted as a wild man with a drawn bow and arrow conjoined with the body of a horse derives from the historic municipal seal and the armorial motif of the Nekeš of Landek family, former holders of the Lukov estate to which Dešná belonged. The green field represents the surrounding forests and hills of the Vizovice Highlands, while yellow and white reflect the tinctures of the heraldic charge.
