Summary

About the place: Desná is a mountain town in the Jablonec nad Nisou District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the valley at the confluence of the Bílá and Černá Desná rivers in the Jizera Mountains. It is renowned for its glassmaking heritage and winter sports facilities.

Flag Description: The flag consists of four horizontal stripes of blue, white, yellow, and green in a width ratio of 6:1:1:6. The aspect ratio of the sheet is 2:3.

Symbolism: The flag's colors (adopted in 2005) are derived directly from the municipal coat of arms. The blue and white stripes represent the sky, the mountain streams (the Bílá and Černá Desná rivers), and the silver water powering the waterwheel. The yellow stripe stands for the golden year 1691 from the shield, marking the founding of the settlement by Count Albrecht Maximilian Desfours. The green stripe symbolizes the forested slopes of the Jizera Mountains.
