Summary
Devecser is a town in Veszprém County, western Hungary, situated near the western shore of Lake Balaton. The settlement originated from five medieval villages that merged in the 12th and 13th centuries, and features an Esterházy castle. In 2010 a severe industrial accident at the nearby Ajka aluminum plant caused extensive environmental damage to the town.
