Summary
Dimitrovgrad is a city in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, situated at the confluence of the Melekesska and Bolshoy Cheremshan rivers. Founded in 1714 as a workers' settlement for a distillery, it gained town status in 1919. The city was renamed in 1972 to honor Bulgarian communist leader Georgi Dimitrov.
