Summary

About the place: Dnešice is a municipality in Plzeň-South District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic, situated in an agricultural landscape along the Dnešický brook about 18 km southwest of Plzeň. The municipality consists of the villages of Dnešice and Černotín.

Flag Description: A blue field with a central white horizontal stripe one-eighth of the hoist width. In the upper blue stripe, a princely coronet between two yellow ears of wheat with two leaves, each curved inwards and issuing from the white stripe. In the lower blue stripe, a common kingfisher in proper colors perched upon two crossed yellow crosiers with white sudaria. The width-to-length ratio is 2:3.

Symbolism: The blue color and white stripe represent the Dnešický brook and the local watercourses. The princely coronet commemorates Duke Vladislav I, who donated the village to the Kladruby Monastery (first recorded mention in 1115). The golden ears of wheat represent the agricultural character and fertility of the region. The crossed crosiers with sudaria symbolize historical ecclesiastical lordship (particularly the Premonstratensian Chotěšov Abbey), while the kingfisher reflects the local fauna and clean aquatic environment.
