Summary

About the place: Dobříš is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, situated at the foot of the Brdy Highlands in the Příbram District. It is renowned for its prominent Rococo chateau with French and English gardens and its historical glove-making industry.

Flag Description: The flag consists of five vertical stripes alternating blue and white (in proportions 1:1:1:1:1). In the second quarter of the flag width from the top, the two white stripes are joined by a horizontal, downward-curved embattled stripe featuring three square merlons and four equal crenels. The aspect ratio of the flag is 2:3.

Symbolism: The flag is a modern vexillological stylization of the historical municipal coat of arms granted to Dobříš in the late 16th century. The arrangement of the white stripes linked by the embattled curved bar forms the architectural silhouette of an open city gate with a portcullis, which in the civic arms frames the town's patron saint, the Apostle Thomas. The blue and white tinctures derive from the field and masonry of the coat of arms.
