Summary

About the place: Dobronice u Bechyně is a South Bohemian municipality in Tábor District, situated in the scenic valley of the Lužnice River approximately 6 km northeast of Bechyně. It is renowned primarily for the prominent ruins of medieval Dobronice Castle perched on a rocky promontory above the river.

Flag Description: A blue field with two white rectangular blocks extending from the second and third sevenths, and from the fifth and sixth sevenths of the fly edge to two-thirds of the sheet length. The ratio of width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The blue and white (silver) color scheme is derived from the municipal coat of arms and the ancestral armorial bearings of the medieval lords of Dobronice (related to the Malovec of Malovice family), who bore a half silver horse above a helmet on an azure shield. The blue also represents the Lužnice River running through the village, while the geometric blocks provide an abstract vexillological adaptation of the heraldic design.
