Summary

About the place: Dolní Beřkovice is a municipality in the Mělník District of the Central Bohemian Region, situated on the left bank of the Elbe River about 5 km northwest of Mělník. Characterized by its flat lowlands and a historic chateau of the Lobkowicz family, it forms part of the fertile Polabí plain.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes: red, wavy white with two crests and three troughs, and blue, in a width ratio of 3 : 1 : 8. In the red stripe are three white fleurs-de-lis palewise one below the other; in the blue stripe is a demi crowned yellow lion with red armed and langued. The ratio of width to length is 2 : 3.

Symbolism: The white wavy stripe represents the location of the municipality on the banks of the Elbe River. The three white fleurs-de-lis evoke local historical/religious traditions and symbolize the three constituent parts of the municipality (Dolní Beřkovice, Vliněves, and Podvlčí). The demi crowned golden lion refers to the noble Lobkowicz family (the Dolní Beřkovice branch), long-standing owners of the estate, as well as ties to the Bohemian Crown.
