Donetsk, Rostov Oblast

Donetsk is a town in Rostov Oblast, Russia, situated on the Seversky Donets River near the Ukrainian border. Founded in 1681 by Don Cossacks, it has a history of changing administration during the early Soviet period and was occupied by Germany in World II. Today it serves as the administrative centre of Donetsk Urban Okrug.
