Summary

About the place: Drahanovice is a Moravian municipality and village in Olomouc District within the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the fertile Haná region at the transition between the Upper Morava Valley and the Zábřeh Highlands near Mount Velký Kosíř. The municipality is famous for its Gothic-Renaissance Black Tower (Černá věž), a preserved residential tower of a medieval stronghold.

Flag Description: A flag divided bendy red over green, charged in the centre with a leaping white goat with yellow attires and hooves and a yellow collar with a ring, accompanied in the green field by four six-pointed yellow stars arranged 1, 2, 1. The ratio of the hoist to the fly is 2:3.

Symbolism: The leaping white (silver) goat with yellow (gold) attires, hooves, and collar with a ring is derived from the historic coat of arms of the knights Drahanovský of Stvolová, who owned the local stronghold and estate in the 16th century. The four yellow (gold) six-pointed stars in the green field symbolize the four merged municipal parts: Kníničky, Lhota pod Kosířem, Ludéřov, and Střížov. The red and green tinctures, designed by renowned Czech heraldist Jiří Louda, reflect the agricultural tradition of the fertile Haná region.
