Summary

About the place: Drahany is a market town in Prostějov District, Olomouc Region, situated in the heart of the Drahany Highlands at an elevation of around 625 metres above sea level. It serves as a traditional rural center of the upland region with history dating back to the 14th century.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of yellow, red, and blue in a width ratio of 1:1:8. In the hoist half of the blue stripe, there is a white lamb facing towards the fly while looking backward, holding with its left foreleg a slanted yellow cross-topped staff with a white two-tailed pennant. The aspect ratio of the flag is 2:3.

Symbolism: The yellow and red stripes at the top derive from the ancestral arms of the House of Liechtenstein (per fess or and gules), the historical lords of the Plumlov estate to which Drahany belonged. The Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) with a pennant on a blue field stems from the town's historical seal dating back to the 14th century and is associated with the dedication of the local parish church to Saint John the Baptist.
