Summary

About the place: Drnovice is a municipality and village located in Zlín District within the Zlín Region, nestled in the Vizovice Highlands (Vizovická vrchovina). The village retains a traditional Moravian Wallachian rural character and is closely tied to the nearby Ploština World War II memorial site.

Flag Description: The flag consists of seven horizontal stripes in a width ratio of 2 : 1 : 2 : 3 : 2 : 1 : 2. The odd stripes are vertically divided green and red, the second and sixth stripes are yellow, and the middle white stripe bears a red rose with a yellow seed and green sepals, flanked by two pendant green linden leaves. The ratio of the flag's width to its length is 2 : 3.

Symbolism: The flag is derived from the municipal coat of arms granted in 2008. The red rose commemorates the first written mention of the village in 1261 associated with the Smilheim Cistercian monastery in Vizovice. The central white stripe symbolizes local streams, the green linden leaves represent the surrounding nature and forests, and the yellow stripes reflect the crown and flames from the coat of arms, which honor the victims of the tragic destruction of the nearby settlement of Ploština in April 1945.
