Summary

About the place: Držková is a Wallachian mountain municipality located in the Zlín District of the Zlín Region, Czechia, nestled in the forested valleys of the Hostýn Hills where the Dřevnice River originates. It is historically celebrated for traditional woodworking (the so-called "wooden porcelain") and Carpathian pastoral culture.

Flag Description: The flag consists of five horizontal stripes of red, white, blue, white, and red in width proportions of 1:1:12:1:1. In the center of the wide blue stripe, placed between two upright yellow stag antlers, are two crossed white shepherd's axes (valashkas) with yellow hafts. The aspect ratio of width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The blue and yellow (gold) colors derive from the coat of arms of the Lords of Sternberg, long-time feudal owners of the Lukov estate to which the village belonged. The stag antlers originate from the historic municipal seal (first recorded in 1744 featuring a man gripping an attacking stag by its antlers, a canting symbol referencing the Czech verb 'držet' – to hold). The crossed Wallachian shepherd's axes (valashkas) along with the red-and-white stripes symbolize the region's Moravian Wallachian identity, pastoral and forestry traditions, and historic heritage of wooden utensil craft.
