Summary
About the place: Duchcov (German: Dux) is a historic town in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic, situated at the foothills of the Ore Mountains in the Most Basin. It is best known for its Baroque chateau, where Giacomo Casanova spent the final years of his life as a librarian.
Flag Description: A flag with an aspect ratio of 2:3 consisting of five vertical stripes alternating red and black. Overlaid across the three central stripes is the Bohemian lion (a white double-tailed lion rampant, crowned and armed in yellow, facing the hoist).
Symbolism: The flag is derived directly from the municipal coat of arms granted to Duchcov in 1460 by King George of Poděbrady upon its elevation to a town. The silver double-tailed Bohemian lion signifies allegiance to the Kingdom of Bohemia and royal patronage, while the alternating red and black vertical stripes reproduce the field of the historical municipal shield.
