Évora, officially the Very Noble and Ever Loyal City of Évora, is a historic city in Portugal’s Alentejo region and the seat of Évora District. Its well‑preserved old town, surrounded by medieval walls, includes Roman ruins such as a temple and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. The city traces its origins to Celtic Ebora and was later a Roman settlement known as Liberalitas Julia.
