Summary

About the place: Frahelž is a South Bohemian village in the Jindřichův Hradec District, situated in the pond-rich landscape of the Třeboň Basin along the right bank of the Lužnice River.

Flag Description: Two horizontal stripes of blue and white. In the blue stripe two white six-petaled potato blossoms with yellow-green centres, in the white stripe a blue rose with a yellow centre. Ratio 2:3.

Symbolism: The potato flowers commemorate the historic fact that in 1772 Frahelž was the very first village in the Třeboň region where potatoes were planted. The blue rose comes from the coat of arms of the Lords of Stráž (a branch of the Vítkovci family), former feudal lords. The blue color symbolizes the Lužnice River and the local ponds.
