Summary

About the place: Helesfa is a small village located in Baranya County in southern Hungary, near the town of Szentlőrinc. Situated in a picturesque landscape surrounded by hills and forests, it is characterized by its peaceful rural setting and rich history.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white rectangular field with the full coat of arms of the municipality centered on it. The coat of arms features a party per pale shield with a green base; the dexter blue field displays a golden radiant sun and a grapevine with grapes, while the sinister red field shows a white castle tower with battlements and black openings, topped by three golden eight-pointed stars. In the green base, a small pond with reeds is depicted. Above the shield rests a silver helmet crowned with a golden coronet, from which emerges a golden lion holding a sabre in its right paw. The shield is adorned with blue and gold mantling, and beneath it lies a golden ribbon with the black inscription '13 HELESFA 05'.

Symbolism: The sun and grapevine symbolize the local agricultural and winemaking traditions. The castle tower refers to historic local architecture and the local manor, from which the crest with the sabre-wielding lion originates—a traditional Hungarian noble heraldic motif. The three stars represent historic local parts or prominent families. The small pond with reeds on the green base represents the natural beauty and local water bodies. The inscription on the ribbon displays the name of the municipality along with local historical/administrative numbers.
