Summary

About the place: Heřmanův Městec is a historic town in the Pardubice Region (Chrudim District) of the Czech Republic, situated at the foot of the Iron Mountains west of Chrudim and southwest of Pardubice. The town is known for its extensive chateau complex with a landscape park and a well-preserved Jewish quarter including a synagogue.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of blue, yellow, and green in a width ratio of 3:1:2. In the upper hoist canton (within the blue stripe) is a green water lily leaf (lekno). The ratio of the flag's width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The green water lily leaf (lekno) on a blue field is the town's historical heraldic charge, derived from the coat of arms of the town's founders, the Lords of Mrdice (recorded in 1325), and confirmed by Emperor Rudolf II in 1579. The flag, adopted in 2000, incorporates the blue of the municipal shield, the green of the water lily leaf, and an accentuating yellow stripe.
