Heves is a small town in eastern Hungary, situated at the northern edge of the Great Hungarian Plain near the Mátá and Bükk hills. It lies south of the Tisza River and serves as a local transportation hub linking surrounding agricultural areas. Historically, the town gave its name to Heves County, although it is not the county seat.
