Summary
About the place: Hlinsko is a small municipality in the Přerov District of the Olomouc Region in the Czech Republic, situated in the rolling landscape of the Moravian Gate and the foothills of the Beskids approximately 4 km southeast of Lipník nad Bečvou. It features a quiet rural character and is home to an archaeologically significant prehistoric hillfort in the northern part of its territory.
Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes: blue, divided bendy red and yellow, and blue. In the hoist blue stripe is a white vine knife pointing upwards with the blade facing the hoist edge. In the central diagonally divided stripe is a blue fleur-de-lis. In the fly blue stripe is a white vine knife with a yellow handle pointing upwards with the blade facing the fly edge. The ratio of width to length of the sheet is 2:3.
Symbolism: The flag and coat of arms of Hlinsko (granted by Decision No. 75 of the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on 15 April 2010) are derived from the village's historic seal and local heritage. The two vine knives reflect traditional viticulture and agriculture and directly echo the figures from the old municipal seal. The blue color and the fleur-de-lis recall Marian symbolism and the historical connection to the Helfštýn estate. The bendy red and yellow (gold) division in the central stripe represents the noble houses historically associated with the domain (such as the Pernštejn or Dietrichstein families).
