Summary

About the place: Hlohovec is a South Moravian winemaking village in the Břeclav District, situated in the heart of the Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape between Lednice and Valtice by the Lednice Ponds.

Flag Description: A yellow field bearing a red heart from which grow two green stems (the hoist-side stem is branched), each with two leaves, bearing three red six-petaled flowers with yellow centers. Laid horizontally over the stems is a blue ploughshare pointing towards the hoist with its cutting edge downwards, charged with a yellow six-petaled flower. The ratio of the flag's width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The symbols are directly derived from the historical municipal seal. The six-petaled blossoms represent hawthorn flowers (Czech: hloh), functioning as canting arms alluding to the name Hlohovec. The heart with blossoming stems symbolizes life, growth, and fertility, while the ploughshare represents agriculture and the farming tradition of the village.
