Summary

About the place: Hluboká nad Vltavou is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, situated north of České Budějovice on both banks of the Vltava River. It is renowned for its romantic neo-Gothic Hluboká Castle, extensive landscaped grounds, and scenic pond systems.

Flag Description: Seven horizontal stripes of yellow, five wavy alternating red and white, and wavy yellow, in a width ratio of 5 : 2 : 2 : 2 : 2 : 2 : 5, with three crests and two troughs. The ratio of the flag's width to length is 2 : 3.

Symbolism: The flag design (adopted in 2007) is derived from the historic municipal coat of arms. The alternating red and white wavy stripes together with the lower wavy yellow stripe represent the Vltava River flowing through the town as well as its rich fishpond heritage, while the yellow colour reflects the golden fields of the civic shield.
