Hodonín is a town in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic, situated on the right bank of the Morava River near the Slovak border. The town lies in the flat landscape of the Lower Morava Valley and is traversed by the Kyjovka River, which feeds a system of fishponds. Its history dates back to the 11th century with the first credible mention in 1169 and it received town rights in 1228.
