Summary

About the place: Holice is a town in the Pardubice District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the lowlands of the Elbe basin near the foothills of the Orlické Mountains and well known as the birthplace of the African explorer Emil Holub.

Flag Description: Diagonally divided yellow over blue in a 2:3 ratio. In the yellow field is a diagonal black stripe running from the seventh eighth of the hoist edge to the seventh eighth of the top edge. In the blue field is a diagonal white stripe running from the second eighth of the bottom edge to the second eighth of the fly edge.

Symbolism: The colors and diagonal division of the flag are derived directly from the town's historic coat of arms, which is split per pale in gold and blue. Yellow and blue represent the two halves of the shield, while the black and white diagonal stripes correspond to the tinctures of the heraldic charges – the black crag and well sweep, and the white (argent) masonry of the town building and stone well.
